Duct Seal Technologies (DST) owns the proprietary and patented technology for repairing HVAC air ducts affected by mold and rust. This technology is especially useful in air ducts located underneath homes built on a slab style foundation. In these homes, the ducts are buried underground, where they are exposed to moisture, which in turn creates an ideal breeding ground for mold and rust. Mold and rust not only affect the air quality within a home, but continued rusting deteriorates air ducts, eventually leading to the collapse of the entire duct system.
 
Traditionally, air duct repair for underground air ducts has involved converting the HVAC ducts into an overhead system, which removes the ducts from the ground. However, such repairs are very costly and time consuming, often requiring homeowners to leave their homes while the renovations are completed. Converting to an overhead HVAC system also generally reduces comfort levels within a home and can even lower the value of a property, since the new overhead system can dramatically reduce the amount of living or storage space. If a home has moisture problems, converting to an overhead system may not improve the situation and even after the costly repairs, it is possible that homeowners will face other expensive repairs. Moving the ducts overhead does not address some of the real problems associated with air ducts. Converting to an overhead system is an extreme measure and is not always warranted.
